Same-Day Crowns with CAD/CAM Technology

We’re excited to offer same-day dental crowns using advanced PlanMill CAD/CAM technology. Instead of using traditional gooey impression materials, we take a quick digital scan of your teeth. A computer generates a 3D model of your tooth, which we use to design your new custom crown.

The design undergoes a series of tests to ensure accuracy and long-lasting durability. The data is then sent to our PlanMill milling machine, where computer-controlled robotic arms craft your new crown out of a solid porcelain block—similar to how a 3D printer works. This allows us to complete your crown in just one visit, saving you time while ensuring a perfect fit.

Crown being designed through numerous checkpoints to ensure a functional, beautiful, strong and dependable design. The white scanner on the right is used to capture digital images of the patient's teeth which the computer compiles into a 3D model.

After the crown has finished the milling process, it is soft and purple, but will turn white after it crystallizes in an extremely high heat oven.  The final crown after custom shading and glazing followed by crystallization in the oven. This is an e.max lithium disilicate porcelain crown, a beautiful and very strong material.

3D Dental Imaging (CBCT)

Our office also features cutting-edge Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) technology, also called 3D dental imaging. This system compiles data into a detailed 3D image we can navigate in micrometer slices from multiple angles.

CBCT scans allow our team to accurately diagnose and plan treatment for a variety of dental conditions, including:

  • Pathology or abnormalities

  • Cracked teeth

  • Impacted wisdom teeth

  • Infections or bone loss

  • Evaluation of previous Root canal treatment

  • Precise Dental implant placement planning

This advanced imaging helps us catch problems earlier and plan safer, more effective treatments than traditional 2D X-rays alone.

Integrated Digital Dentistry

Our CBCT and CAD/CAM systems can communicate with each other, allowing us to combine 3D scans with custom digital crown design. This integration expands our possibilities for advanced restorative and cosmetic dental care, right here at our trusted Aiea dentist office.

Digital X-Rays and Panoramic Imaging

We’ve offered digital dental X-rays and panoramic imaging since 2008, and in 2015 we introduced external (extraoral) bitewing radiographs. These bitewing X-rays are taken outside your mouth, making them much more comfortable for children and patients with a strong gag reflex.

While resolution is slightly lower than standard bitewings, this method is a great alternative for patients who struggle with traditional in-mouth films.

Digital dental X-rays also expose patients to over 50% less radiation than conventional films.

  • Four bitewing X-rays equal about the same radiation as a one-way flight from Honolulu to Las Vegas.

  • Our new panoramic and external bitewing machine delivers even less radiation—just one image shows all your teeth, sinuses, and jaw structures with about the same exposure as a single bitewing film.
